A free consultation is not a sales pitch. It is, quite simply, a conversation at the kitchen table — about what is working in your mum’s home, what has become difficult, and what could look different from next week. This page walks through exactly what happens when you contact us for a free care consultation, so you know what to expect at every step.
Who comes to the consultation
When you book, you will not get a phone script or a call centre. The person who calls you back — and usually the person who then visits you — is one of our management team or a senior carer. For most families in Rugby, Nuneaton and Coventry that means you will meet me, Clare, our Registered Manager, or one of my senior staff. If it helps, a family member can join us; we actually encourage it.
We also never visit to a fixed sales script. If your father is having a bad day, we will take a different day. Care is built around the person, not the diary.
The three stages
1. The first call (15–20 minutes). We will ask who is asking, what has changed recently, and what the person themselves would want. We will not push for a decision on this call — the only question we are trying to answer is whether a home visit would be useful.
2. The home visit (usually 45–60 minutes). A senior carer or manager comes to the home and actually walks around it. We look at where falls could happen, how the person manages on their own, what they are eating, and what the daily routine really looks like. You can show us anything: medication lists, discharge letters, the hospital bag you are terrified to unpack.
3. The written plan. Within a couple of days we send you a short written summary: what we discussed, what we recommend and why, and what it would cost. There is no pressure to start the same day, and there is nothing to pay until you are ready.
Who should be there
- The person who will be receiving care — their voice matters more than anyone else’s
- A family member, if that feels comfortable (an adult child, a partner, a neighbour)
- The GP’s notes or hospital discharge letter, if there is one
- The medication list — we will not judge the mess on the kitchen table
Questions we get asked most (and honest answers)
“How quickly can care start?” Usually within a week, and same-day for urgent situations. “Will it be the same person every time?” We match you to a named carer as a matter of course, and continuity is the whole point of home care. “What if I don’t like the carer?” You can ask for a change at any time; see our guide to choosing an agency, where I go into this in more detail.
What a consultation is not
It is not a place where we ask for your bank details, and not a place where we ask you to sign anything on the spot. It is a free, no-obligation opinion from a regulated care provider about what would actually help your household. If, after the visit, we think you do not need us — for example, a few small adjustments and a GP review would sort it out — we will tell you that straight, and we will be happy to help you find the right service instead.
